The EPDM door seals serve two important functions: weather protection and reducing the level of noise that can be felt inside the car. Automotive door seals require a special surface coating to ensure that dirt particles do not stick to it. However, spraying a functional coating (antifriction or flocking coating) in the extrusion process is not an easy task.
In the past, EPDM strips had to be sanded continuously by means of a rotating wire brush, which was a process with poor process stability.
